Pattie T. Bost Black, 86, of Pinehurst, passed away at her home on Thursday, April 26th.

A celebration of her life will be held in September.

Pattie was born in Midland, NC to the late Grant Bost and Eva Ruth Beaver Bost.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband T.R. Black, sisters: Joan Diogo, Peg Bonnano, Brenda Gonzalez and brother Bob Bost.  Pattie is survived by her daughters:  Janice Phillips (Vic Wynne), Robin Myers, Patti Van Dusen (Jim), Tina Black and son Tommy Black, III (Sandra).  She was the grandmother of:  Jaime, Patrick, Taylor, T.R. IV, Charlotte and Austin.  She was the great – grandmother of Oliver, Milo, Iggy and Ingrid “Georgie”.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Pattie was raised in Cabarrus County and graduated from Bethel High School.  She would start working for Southern Bell, a career that lasted 40 years and was a lifelong member of the Pioneers of America.  On October 8th, 1950, she married T.R. Black.  They moved to Charlotte where they would raise their 5 children.  In the early 1980’s, Pattie would settle in Pinehurst and became a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Southern Pines.  She had also been a member of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). Among her favorite activities was her love of flowers and gardening. Pattie was most known and loved for her gentle spirit and generous hugs.
