Robert Leo Ebel, 80, of Seven Lakes, NC passed away at home July 7, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Born June 21, 1939 in Peoria, Illinois, he was the son of the late Leo C. Ebel and Alice Mary Ebel.  Bob served in the Marine Corps, active from 1959 until 1963 and reserves until 1965.  After his honorable discharge from the Corps he went on to work at Carson Perry Scott in the advertising department where he met his better half and partner in all that they did, his loving wife, Teresa K. Michael.  As one of their favorite hobbies to do together, they both excelled.  Both were skeet shooting champions as husband and wife as well as individually.  Bob went even further as National Champion.

Bob graduated from the Kendall School of Design with honors in January of 1969.  He worked for Selig Manufacturing as Vice President of Furniture Design and Development until 1980.  Bob then formed his own Design and Engineering business, he worked for several furniture manufacturers, both in the states and abroad until 2005.  He then retired and became the best babysitter, supporter and taxi driver for his grandchildren and great grandchild that one could ever ask for!

Bob was a lifetime member of the Sandhills Marine Corps League Detachment 1001 and was the Commandant for three years (2003 – 2006).  He was rewarded “Marine of the Year” in 2006. 

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Leo C. Ebel and Mother, Alice Mary Ebel.  He is survived by his sister Mary Alice Flanagan (Jay), his spouse of 55 years, Teresa K. Ebel; children:  Cristi Ebel – Tucker (Larry) and Michael Robert Ebel (Sara); grandchildren:  Britani Lee McIe, Isaiah Cole McIe, Hannah Denise Ebel, Robert Austin Ebel and Colton Patrick Ebel; Great grandchild:  Luna Lee – Clare McIe.

A memorial service will be held at the Boles Funeral Home, 221 MacDougal Dr., Seven Lakes, West End, NC on Thursday, July 11th, at 7:00 p.m.  The family will receive friends prior the service from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sandhills Marine Corps League as a “Toys for Tots” donation or to FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross rd. Pinehurst, NC, 28374.
