Sally Sterritt Boyd Bennett of Southern Pines, NC and formerly of Binghamton, NY passed away on July 7, 2018 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, NC surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 1, 1944 to Robert S. Boyd, Jr and Muriel Helen (Macdonald) Boyd. Sally graduated from Gamaliel Bradford Senior High School, Wellesley, MA in 1961, then attended Cazenovia College, Cazenovia, NY. She married James B. Bennett on December 15, 1962. 

Sally is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; son, B. Scott Bennett and his wife, Renee of Allentown, PA; son, Mark C. Bennett and his wife Christina of Southern Pines, NC; sister, Joan Livingstone of Boca Raton, FL and Freedom, NH; grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Samantha, Taylor, Lexie, and Bayne.

Sally was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. A full-time homemaker, taking care of her family was Sally’s honor and joy. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and considered them part of her family circle.

Also a skilled, creative and passionate interior decorator and designer, Sally’s portfolio included styling a Christmas photo shoot of the historic Pearl S. Buck House in Bucks County, PA for Good Housekeeping magazine.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, July 14, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Boles Funeral Home, 425 W. Pennsylvania Ave., Southern Pines, NC. Funeral service celebrating Sally’s life will follow starting at 11 a.m. The family requests business casual attire.
