Sylvia Hunsucker Von Canon, 80 of West End, passed away surrounded by family on August 5, 2018 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care in Pinehurst, NC.

Sylvia was born on February 22, 1938 in Moore County to the late Mollie Frye and S. Paul Hunsucker. Sylvia grew up in Robbins along with her 5 sisters. While in school at Elise High School, she was recognized as an All-State Basketball player. She married Leonard Von Canon in 1957 and they made their home in West End, NC and raised two beautiful daughters, Janiece and Amanda. Sylvia was a dedicated employee with FirstHealth of the Carolinas for 31 years as departmental secretary with Food and Nutrition. She loved working in her flower garden and had a talent for growing beautiful flowers. She was a very loving, unselfish person and took care of everyone. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Leonard Von Canon, Jr., daughters, Janiece Von Canon Bunton and Amanda Von Canon Robertson.

She is survived by 5 sisters, Peggy H. Greene and husband, W. B. of Robbins, Betty H. Hicks of Siler City, Shirley H. Miley and husband, Tony of Southern Pines, Willa H. Williams of Robbins, and Wanda H. Linville and husband, Gray of Pilot Mountain. Grandchildren, Alex Cagle (Sonia) of Carthage, Daniel Culler of West End, Steven Cagle of Wilmington, Amie Cagle of West End. Great Grandchildren, Braiden Cagle, of West End, Alyssa Cagle of West End, and Macy Cagle of Carthage. Many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm with visitation at 1:00 pm at Boles Funeral Home in Seven Lakes. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery.
