On January 26, 2019 our family said goodbye to a wonderful man. A native of Moore County he was born on August 12, 1939 to William Alexander Black “Sandy” and Edith Blue Black. He led a humble yet, rich life. He retired from the forestry industry after 30 years then worked another 30 years for Coffer Farms. Life experiences and lessons learned from his own upbringing led to a life of integrity and hard work.

In addition to full time work, he raised a large garden, worked at their family owned store and raised 3 children with his devoted wife Kathy. His quiet faith was best expressed in how he cared for those he loved. He was a thoughtful and kind man who served his community the same way he served his family. The legacy he left is a treasured gift to be carried on by the ones who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathy and three children, Stephen Blanchard (Charity), Tracey Brown (Michael) and Adam Black (Hilary), nine grandchildren, Andrew, Caleb, Christopher, Grace, Jacob, Ellie, Mattie, Leah and Cora and two sisters Ann Chriscoe(Roger) of Robbins and Terry Crouse(John) of Carthage. We are thankful to have had such a wonderful man to guide, nurture and love us.

He is preceded in death by his parents Sandy and Edith Black and brother Wayne Black.

A celebration of life will be held in the fellowship hall at Culdee Presbyterian Church on Thursday January 31,2019 at 1pm.
