Zach, born August 31, 1983, in Moore County to Connie and Emmett “Scooter” Stephenson, unexpectedly passed away on Thanksgiving (November 22, 2018). He is survived by his mother, a longtime resident of Pinebluff, NC, his father and stepmother Dana of Little River, SC, elder brothers Hunter and Michael, an uncle and aunt Raymond & Kathy Davis and aunt and uncle Amanda and Jeff Childers (of Lee County).

A redheaded graduate of Pinecrest High School, Zach was an alum of East Carolina University (business major; class of ’07), and brother to the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was currently employed in Durham as an IT manager by FDA Quality & Regulatory Consultants of TX, and previously as a marketing music biz wiz at Redeye Distribution of the Triangle.

But most importantly and awesomely, Zach owned and operated his acclaimed rock ‘n’ roll record label, Bad Diet Records LLC, which released four vinyl LPs, numerous videos and digital exclusives. He was the type of fun, friendly, original rebel produced by our region. He was a great cook, a decent skateboarder, a young man of fiery intellect who loved to read and apply a font of knowledge to the digital realm.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends, and forever loved.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 12:00-1:00PM at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with service at 1:00PM. Burial will follow at Pinebluff Cemetery.

Donations can be contributed, to maintain an online footprint for Zach’s record label (and legacy), to Connie Stephenson, PO BOX 873, Pinebluff NC 28373, or arranged via 910-281-4208.

Services are entrusted to Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines.
