Frederick P. Maenza Sr., 84, of West End, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
He was born March 18, 1933, in Rochester, NY, to the late Liborio and Vincenza. Fred graduated from St. Bonaventure University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. After four years in the Army, he worked as a research scientist and then an assistant wine master. After retiring, he worked fifteen years at Pinehurst Resort. He enjoyed golf and bowling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years Rose Delores Casale and his two sisters Josephine Wydra and Sarah Perno. He is survived by his two sons, Frederick Patrick Maenza Jr., of West End, and Martin Casale Maenza and his wife, Theresa, of Macomb, MI; and one grandson, Andrew Maenza.
A viewing will be held at Boles Funeral Home in Seven Lakes on Friday, December 8, from 6 pm to 8 pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 9, at 9 am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Pinehurst, with interment following at St. Anthony of Padua Cemetery, in Southern Pines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
