Henry Alex Williamson, 96, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Summer Hill Baptist Church, where he was a lifelong member, with Reverend Arnold Comer and Reverend Joe Peters officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Alex was a native of Moore County.  He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Alex worked in the construction field for over 50 years.  He loved his family and caring for his home.  He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and could handle most any project. Alex served his Lord and his church by caring for the buildings, grounds; serving as Deacon, Trustee, Usher and many other roles. He was a son of the late James and Kitty Belle Williamson and was preceded in death by son: Gary Williamson; sisters: Lessie Short, Myrtle Frye, Alma Love; brothers: James H.Williamson, Billy H. Williamson, Alfred Williamson, Melvin Williamson.

Alex is survived by his wife: Myrtle Sineath Williamson; daughter: Linda Webb and husband Harry; grandchildren: Blake Webb and wife Ginny, Heather Hester and husband Brian; great-grandchildren: Autumn, Rylee; and many friends.  

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Powell Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
