Jeanette Brown Mitchell formerly of Seven Lakes West, NC passed away Wednesday evening, January 3rd.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa and was the daughter of Warren and Helen Brown. She trained as a Cadet Nurse during WW11 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and completed her training in 1947. During her life, Jeanette was registered as an RN in PA and NJ and worked for a brief period at the Convalescent Home in Broomall, PA and upon relocation served as a nursing supervisor at the Linwood Convalescent Home in Linwood, NJ. Until her retirement 19 years ago. She enjoyed her nine-hole ladies golf group and two bi-monthly bridge and Mah-Jung sessions as well as book club.

She is survived by her husband Bob of 69 years, high school sweethearts. Bob and Jeannette were blessed with 3 children, Barbara Sturdivant of Blaine WA, Bob Mitchell of Westmoreland, NH and Susan McChesney of Centreville, VA; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a fun-loving and always smiling mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother until it was time for family visits to end, at which time she was famously known for her ‘tearful’ goodbyes. Her family now mourns her passing and sends their ‘tearful’ goodbyes to her.

A memorial service will be held at The West End Presbyterian Church on Saturday Jan.13 at 2:00 pm
