Mae Belle Matthews Parker, age 92, of Vass, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Kingswood Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 3:00 at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Heath Thurman officiating.  Burial will follow in Pineywood Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 2 until 3 p.m.

Mae Belle was born in Surry County on October 1, 1925 to George and Thannie Matthews. At an early age, she joined Pineywood Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until her health failed. She will be remembered as a woman of God who loved everyone and everyone loved her as well.  She was always a source of inspiration to her family and leaves behind a harvest of memories to cherish and honor.  She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Howard Parker of Vass, Ronnie Parker and wife Debbie of Vass; sister, Evelyn Wicker of Olivia; grandchildren, Mary, Ronnie, Barry and Jamie and one great-grandchild, Harmony.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Thannie Matthews; husband, Charles F. Parker; children, Shirley Mae Parker and Donald Parker; sisters, Anna, Virginia and Ruth and one brother Johnny.
