Patricia A. Matchulat, 92 a resident of Belle Meade died on Tuesday, December 12, 2017.  

Mrs. Matchulat was born in Kansas City, MO on January 11, 1925 to Reuben Charles and Dorothy Armstrong.

She graduated with a Batchelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Kansas where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.

Patricia enjoyed relaxing with her favorite hobbies- golf and bridge.

Patricia was a loving, compassionate individual who throughout her lifetime showed love and kindness for her fellow man by engaging in volunteer activities under the guidance of her church and the Junior League.

She had her first passport at the age of 10 and through the years covered the world.  Her travel outlook was not centered on vacation but to gain an understanding of how nations differed.

Patricia was devoted to animals of all varieties and always had one or two dogs in her home.

Patricia married Joseph M. Stryker in 1944.  They were married until his death in 1985.  Patricia and Joseph were pre-deceased by their son Stanford Stryker and daughter Josephine Stryker.

In 1989, Patricia and John G. Matchulat were married.  They resided in Whispering Pines where they maintained an enjoyable lifestyle with family, friends, and activities including golf at the Whispering Pines Country Club.

In 1999 they retired to Belle Meade in Southern Pines where their active lifestyle continued. She was preceded in death by her 2nd husband, John G. Matchulat in April of 2014.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Belle Meade Education Fund or to the FirstHealth Foundation.
