There was a robbery Saturday around 12:00 pm in Downtown Southern Pines. According to the Southern Pines Police Department, the victim was approached by two men at the Short Stop on Broad Street and Connecticut Avenue. The victim was outside the store while he was grabbed and dragged beside a vehicle, and he finally broke loose on Broad Street between Connecticut and Vermont. The victim suffered head trauma, and he was transported by EMS to the ball field on Morganton Road where a life flight helicopter transported the patient to UNC Hospitals.

One of the suspects in the robbery was reportedly on probation and wearing an ankle monitor. The suspects escaped in a white pickup truck with a blue stripe. Authorities immediately issued an all points bulletin with a description of the suspects and the vehicle.
