A driver was injured after hitting a log truck in Vass Tuesday afternoon.  

Authorities say a passenger car turned or hydroplaned into the front of the truck, and the driver was taken to Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with non-life threatening injuries.  The truck driver was uninjured.

The two vehicles were traveling north on U.S. 1 when the accident occurred sending both vehicles into the southbound lane.

The passenger vehicle was totaled and “the truck sustained several thousand dollars worth of damage and punctured the fuel tank,” said retired Cypress Pointe Firefighter, Frank Staples.

Several emergency units arrived on scene to assist including Cypress Pointe Fire and Rescue, Vass Police, Moore County EMS, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
