Pair facing drug charges following Eagle Springs traffic stop

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said two people were arrested on Friday following a traffic stop in Eagle Springs.

“On March 31, 2023. Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of Sawgrass Road in Eagle Springs,” said Fields. “During the traffic stop, Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. As a result of the search, Deputies located fentanyl, methamphetamine, and items of drug paraphernalia.”

Michael Alston, 60, and Monica Boyd, 48, both from Eagle Springs, face several charges.

Alston was charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of open container, and driving while license revoked. He was placed under a $20,000 secured bond. He is expected in court on April 27.

Boyd’s secured bond was set at $50,500, and she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Boyd also had outstanding arrest warrants for misdemeanor probation violation, misdemeanor larceny, possession of methamphetamine, and identity theft. She has multiple court dates in Randolph, Montgomery, and Guilford counties.

Defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
