Pedestrian struck in hit and run

A pedestrian suffered injuries after a hit-and-run incident outside of Taylortown on Thursday.

The woman was struck by the vehicle on Juniper Lake Road at Richmond Street around 7:30 p.m.

Initially, AirCare was requested to be on standby as emergency crews were en route to the scene. However, AirCare reported they were unable to fly if needed due to weather.

Authorities say the woman was able to get to a nearby house to get help.

When first responders arrived to access the victim, they found her able to ambulate and speak with paramedics.

Investigators were not able to get a description of the vehicle that fled the scene.

Responding to the incident were Pinehurst Fire and Rescue, Taylortown Police, Moore County EMS, and Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
