2022 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Law Olmsted, founder of American landscape architecture. To celebrate Mr. Olmsted’s 200th Birthday, the Village of Pinehurst will host a community clean-up day on April 26 at 10 a.m.
When Mr. James Tufts founded the Village of Pinehurst in 1895, he hired the firm of Olmsted, Olmsted and Eliot to lay out the design of the new Village. The senior partner in the firm was none other than Frederick Law Olmsted himself. While the design of the Village may have been completed by others in the firm, the principles of Olmsted’s landscape architecture had a major influence on how the community was laid out and what the Village of Pinehurst has become today.
The community can participate in the clean-up day alongside Village staff at two starting areas. Staff will be at both locations with bags, vests, gloves, and pickers for you to use. Please bring a water bottle and make sure to register to ensure there is enough equipment for everyone. To register, visit vopnc.org and click on the Olmsted 200 logo.
Locations:
Meet at Village of Pinehurst Community Center, 210 Rattlesnake Trail, and collect trash along 211.

In case of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled to Friday, April 29.
