A Pinebluff man was sentenced Friday to six years for child pornography.

Kevin Scott Smith, 40, pled guilty in August to one count of receipt of child pornography, according to Matthew G.T. Martin, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina.

In March of 2018, Moore County Sheriff’s Office participated in Operation Southern Impact II – Multi-State Child Exploitation Operation.

During the Operation, Moore County Sheriff’s Deputies executed a search warrant at Smith’s residence where they searched multiple electronic devices. Deputies seized more than 250 sexually explicit videos involving minor children between the ages of 4 and 17.

United States District Judge William L. Osteen, Jr. sentenced Smith to 72 months in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release.

Martin issued a statement praising Moore County Sheriff’s Office.

“This case exemplifies how excellent federal, state, and local law enforcement coordination can protect our children from exploitation. Thank you to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office for participating in the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force,” said U.S. Attorney Martin.
