Village council appoints new member

• Council recognized Tommy Morrison for his achievement in the U.S. Kids Golf World Championship, winning the boys’ 12 division and as a member of the winning United States team in the World Van Horn Cup.

• Council recognized Jay Snyder and presented him with a resolution honoring him for his service on the Planning and Zoning Board and the Board of Adjustment.

• Jeff Sanborn presented the Fire Department with the Life Safety Achievement Award for its fire prevention accomplishments in 2016. Pinehurst was awarded by the National Association of State Fire Marshals (NASM) Fire Research and Education Foundation in partnership with Grinnell Mutual.

• Under the consent agenda, Council approved a resolution reappointing Melissa Watford to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

• Under the consent agenda, Council approved a resolution honoring Bob Farren for his service on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

• Council formed a consensus to approve a sponsorship request from the FirstHealth Foundation for the 1in8K Race.

• John Frye, Director of Financial Services, and Jason Morado with the ETC Institute presented the 2017 Community and Business Survey Results.

• Natalie Hawkins, Assistant Village Manager, presented the Village’s performance relative to the goals and objectives set for FY 2017.

• John Frye, Director of Financial Services, gave a demonstration of the new Financial Transparency Center which is located on the Village website.

• Council approved Ordinance 17-13 amending the FY 2018 Budget for a donation to the Police Department for Naloxone kits for Police patrol vehicles.

• Council held a discussion about the proposed Community Center and formed a consensus to proceed with getting a design for the Community Center in FY 2018 at the Cannon Park location.

• Council formed a consensus for staff to proceed with getting paperwork prepared for Council to consider a land swap between the Village of Pinehurst and Sandhills Sandsharks at the October 10 work session.

• Council approved Resolution 17-27 amending the Purchasing Policy for the Village of Pinehurst.
