Pinehurst man charged with indecent liberties with a child

A 76-year-old Pinehurst man was arrested by Whispering Pines Police Department on one count of felony indecent liberties with a child and was placed in the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond, announced the Whispering Pines Police Department.

Jere Blank was arrested on Friday, Jan. 28.

“A report was filed with the Whispering Pines Police Department alleging that Blank had fondled a juvenile victim at a residence located in Whispering Pines,” said Whispering Pines Police Lieutenant Rodney Dozier in a news advisory.

The department did not release any other details because of the “sensitive nature of this investigation.”

The Southern Pines Police Department assisted with the investigation because they are “investigating similar cases,” said Dozier.

After the news advisory was released, new information on the Moore County Detention Center’s website listed seven more charges of indecent liberties with a child by the Southern Pines Police Department.

All offense dates are listed as 2016 and 2019.

The suspect’s court date is on Tuesday, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
