Dr. Jason Guevara, Dr. James Marino, and staff welcomes Dr. Richard Slusher to Pinehurst Orthopedic Group.  Dr. Richard Slusher will be seeing patients beginning Wednesday, July 5th. He is fellowship trained in Sports Medicine. Seeing a growing need in the community for specially trained Sports Medicine Physicians, Pinehurst Orthopedic Group partnered with EmergeOrtho to bring Dr. Slusher to the area. He and his family reside in Southern Pines.

Dr. Richard M. Slusher received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, and his Osteopathic Medical Degree from the University of Health Science College of Osteopathic Medicine of Kansas City, Missouri. As an orthopedic surgeon in the Unites States Army, he served as the primary surgeon for the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg North Carolina with deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq.

After completing his orthopedic training at Midwest University in Olympia Fields, Illinois, Dr. Slusher spent a year in a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati / Wellington Sport Medicine and Orthopedics where he took care of high school athletes, Division I Collegiate athletes, as well as professional athletes.

While serving with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, he took care of a wide variety of sports injuries which allowed soldiers to return to duty. This experience allows Dr. Slusher to treat a wide variety of sports injuries.
