Officer Raper named SPPD employee of the quarter

You may have heard people playing the violin in area parking lots recently and gave money because of displayed signs asking for donations to feed their families; however, the Southern Pines Police Department said in a news release this is a nationwide scam.

The people have been posing as musicians and using speakers at the Fresh Market, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, and Kohl’s department store.

No other details were released.

Southern Pines Police Department is asking citizens to call the station at 910-692-7031 if they see this illegal activity.
