Police recover stolen vehicle, 2 arrested in investigation

The Aberdeen Police Department said in a press release on Thursday two people were arrested for allegedly stealing a motor vehicle. Two other suspects have been identified but are not in custody.

The crime took place on Oct. 24 in the area of W. Saunders Blvd. and Churchill Downs Drive.

“Upon further investigation, detectives with the Aberdeen Police Department, in collaboration with Southern Pines Police Department Investigators, were able to identify four suspects who were involved in the motor vehicle theft, and subsequent fraudulent charges related to the crime,” said Aberdeen Police Department.

Three days later, authorities found the stolen vehicle in Hoke County.  

Ariel Turner, 21, of Candor, and Christopher Moore, 18, of Southern Pines, were arrested and each charged with breaking or entering a motor vehicle, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm, possession of stolen firearm, identity theft, obtaining property by false pretense, attempted obtaining property by false pretense, financial card theft, and financial card fraud.

Moore was also recently arrested with two other people in connection to a motor vehicle breaking and entering case, said Southern Pines Police Department in a press release on Friday.

Southern Pines Police Department said he is facing charges of five counts of felony break or enter a motor vehicle, three counts of felony larceny of a firearm, three counts of felony possession of a stolen firearm, one count of felony possession of stolen property, two counts of misdemeanor possession of stolen property, one count of felony larceny, three counts of misdemeanor larceny, one count of felony financial card theft, and four counts of felony conspiracy.
