Police respond to residential alarm, arrests man with outstanding warrants

The Southern Pines Police Department said in a news advisory that a 33-year-old Aberdeen man was arrested after they responded to a residential alarm on Thursday.

“On February 19, 2022, members of the Southern Pines Police Departments Patrol Division responded to 280 W. Delaware Avenue for a reported residential alarm,” said the department. “Upon officer’s arrival, they made contact with Kevin Edward Makely who reported he was working at the residence. During the officer’s investigation, it was determined that Kevin Edward Makely was wanted for outstanding criminal warrants.”

Makely was found to be in possession of .05 grams of methamphetamine and 11 dosage units of Suboxone, said the department.

Makely was charged with possession of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of schedule III controlled substance (Suboxone).

The suspect was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $5,000 bond and is presumed innocent until proven guilty. He is due in court on Wednesday.
