A man is recovering after slamming his car into a tree, thanks to the life saving efforts of Pinebluff Police.  The Toyota Camry was heading into town on West Baltimore Avenue Saturday when the driver lost control taking out a mailbox before crashing into a tree.

Bystanders pulled the unconscious man from the vehicle. When Pinebluff Police Chief Pike Nordgren arrived minutes later, the man stopped breathing and only had a faint pulse.

Chief Nordgren immediately began CPR and continued until paramedics arrived on the scene. The man responded to the life-saving efforts and was alert when paramedics transported him to Moore Regional Hospital for more definitive care.

The driver, in his 20s, was charged with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, careless and reckless driving, and damage to property. Chief Nordgren has advised the investigation is ongoing and more charges may be filed.

Responding to the accident were Pinebluff Police, Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, and Moore County EMS.
