The Southern Pines Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred at Wells Fargo Bank on Highway 15-501 on June 30 just before 4:30 p.m.

The Southern Pines Police Department responded to Wells Fargo Bank for a reported robbery in progress.

Upon the arrival of the officers, it was reported that a white male, medium height, slim build, weighing approximately 120 pounds, wearing black pants, black dress shirt with a gray or light color tie, light brown or blond hair that may have been a wig and a black fedora hat entered the bank and demanded money from the employees, said Deputy Chief Charles Campbell.

This unknown suspect left the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash running toward Murray Hill Road.  At this time, there is no known ongoing threat to the public. Additional information will be released at the appropriate time during the investigation.
