WHAT: North Carolina Department of Public Safety Secretary Erik A. Hooks, along with other DPS leadership, government officials and community members, will participate in the dedication of the new Samarcand Training Academy Firearms Training Center in Moore County.

The 10-acre Firearms Training Center includes a state-of-the-art 3,000 square foot range house, range tower and two high tech outdoor ranges. The range house consists of a training classroom with advanced technology and state-of-the-art presentation equipment and space for 30 students, a weapons cleaning room, and an indoor firearms training simulator that allows participants to train with drills in a virtual simulator instead of training with live rounds on the range.

This project completes the first phase of construction for the Academy.
