North Carolina burning ban halts Memorial Day fireworks

Kids rode the ferris wheel, climbed a 24-foot rock wall and played on inflatable slides as the adults danced to Juice Box Heroes Tuesday night at the Pinehurst Country Club – all part of the annual Freedom Fest.

When darkness came, everyone was treated to the Village of Pinehurst fireworks show from the Harness Track, as they sat together on the lawn overlooking The Cradle, the resort’s newest 9-hole course.

Despite daytime temperatures in the high 90’s, it did not keep the crowd away for an evening of fun to celebrate the birth of America and honoring the courageous men and women dedicated to preserving our freedom.
