A Raeford man, Antonio Jamal Brown, age 32, has pleaded guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter for the shooting death of David Rashawn Shaw, age 28, which occurred on June 26th, 2012 at a Southern Pines apartment complex.  When the crime occurred, police were dispatched to a report of multiple shots fired in the 300 block of Shaw Avenue.  When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Shaw dead outside of the apartment complex; however, years went by before an arrest was made.

Brown was arrested on May 15, 2015 after Southern Pines Police Department gathered enough information in its investigation to obtain a warrant for Brown when witnesses nearly three years later came forward to identify Brown as the shooter.  Brown was already in prison at the time for another homicide and was serving a six year and 10 months sentence at Hoke County Correctional Institute.

Cumberland County Superior Court Judge, Mary Ann Tally, sentenced Brown to a minimum of 10.8 years and 14 years maximum in prison on Monday for the Southern Pines Homicide.
