Registration open for Pinehurst Fire Department Citizens Academy

The public can get a firsthand look at how the Village of Pinehurst Fire Department trains and responds to the emergency needs of our community by attending the Citizens Fire Academy.

The Citizens Fire Academy is a free eight-week course designed to take participants behind the scenes to learn about fire department operations and how it assists citizens when an emergency happens.

The academy will resemble real-life, as participants receive classroom instruction on fire department operations and hands-on firefighter safety and protective gear training. Outside the classroom, instructors will give demonstrations on lifesaving equipment, like AED’s and the Jaws of Life®.

The Pinehurst Citizens Fire Academy will take place on Tuesdays, Mar. 22 through May 10, from 6:30 — 9 p.m., at the main fire station (405 Magnolia Rd.).

To apply for the free academy, you must be 18 years old or older. Fire district resident registration is currently open and nonresident registration begins Feb. 28 and ends Mar. 7.

Anyone interested in the Citizens Academy can complete an application available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/98S2NLF.
