Morganton Road to remain open during roadwork

Town crews are starting planned resurfacing projects in Aberdeen this week.

The Town of Aberdeen announced on their website Riley Paving will be resurfacing Highway 5 after hours beginning Thursday to Saturday from 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.

The construction will be taking place on Highway 5 (S. Poplar Street and E. Main Street) from the post office to Blue Street.

The town is asking residents to park elsewhere in this area.

“There is street side parking in this area and all vehicles will need to be moved from these parking spaces during the time periods to allow the contractor to resurface these areas,” said town officials.

The project will continue on Monday during business hours from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. down Blue Street to Bethesda Avenue, including Bethesda Avenue and Bethesda Road.

The town has asked motorist to be cognizant of the construction crew.

“Please use caution if you are traveling in these areas, especially at night as it can be difficult to see workers in the roadway,” said officials.
