Ribbon-cutting held at Southern Pines Ashley showroom

Broad River Retail’s newly opened Ashley store in Southern Pines celebrated its official grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 26.

“The Sandhills Region has been desirable to Broad River Retail for many years, and we found an ideal location in a former Stein Mart centrally positioned within Southern Pines and the Sandhills region to open our thirtieth store,” Charlie Malouf, Broad River Retail President and CEO said. “We chose this location to be the home of our first 7.0 store design, and I think it is our most beautiful showroom to date. We are beyond excited to furnish life’s best memories within this growing and vibrant area.”

“This store provides residents with another option to shop closer to home, and created several new jobs with the majority staffed locally,” Manny Rodrigues, Broad River Retail Chief Operating Officer said. “Broad River Retail is familiar with this lively region of North Carolina. With an Ashley store in Fayetteville, our Memory Makers have supported customers from the Sandhills for years.”

The new Ashley is located at 10570 US Hwy 15/501, next to the Olive Garden. The store has a showroom of 32,000 square feet and includes the new 7.0 store design, which includes an open shopping environment, video moment walls, and an expansive Sleep Shop that includes top name brands like Tempur-Pedic, Sealy, Stearns & Foster, BEDGEAR, Purple, and Ashley Sleep.

The 7.0 Ashley store design has products that represent a variety of lifestyles, which appeal to a wide variety of customers. The space intends to be inspirational so the customer can envision the product in their home.

“Our Memory Makers worked tirelessly preparing for this successful grand opening,” Janet Leimkuhler, Director of Visual Impact, said. “This is our first 7.0 Ashley store which showcases a design to allow the products to shine. With the open plan and unique sightline features, our customers can easily navigate their shopping experience.”

“We proudly worked in collaboration with Ashley Furniture Industries, Luttman Architecture, LPD Construction, Minutemen Electric, Advanced Signs, and BCS Floors to design, construct, and build this beautiful new Ashley store,” Tim Sayles, Associate Director, Facilities, Safety, and Loss Prevention said.

In keeping with Broad River Retail’s dedication to the communities it serves, a portion of all mattress sales from the store will be donated to Ashley’s Hope to Dream program. Hope to Dream was founded in 2010 on the guiding principle that every child deserves a good night’s sleep. Since its inception, more than 100,000 children have received a brand-new bed.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), was identified as the local partner and recipient of the proceeds of local mattress sales from the Southern Pines store from Broad River Retail as a tribute to their service in the local community. Just like Broad River Retail, SHP believes every child deserves a bed to call their own. SHP is a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling, and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need.

“In celebration of our grand opening in Southern Pines, we are excited to partner with Sleep in Heavenly Peace — NC Fuquay-Varina Chapter, as well as its newest chapter serving kids in Southern Pines, Sleep in Heavenly Peace — Sandhills,” Kim Harkness, Senior Director of Marketing, Communications, and Community Outreach said. “In celebration of the grand opening, we will be recognizing both chapters with $1,000.”

Ashley is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on
Sunday.
