Robbins firefighters cut the roof to remove an elderly woman from her wrecked car.
The woman was heading toward Robbins on North Moore Road near Carter Road Thursday around 1:15 p.m. It appears she ran off the right side of the road and overcorrected, according to officials on the scene. Her car came to rest on the opposite side of the road on its side. The woman was the only occupant in the Pontiac sedan.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they requested for a heavy rescue truck from Robbins Fire and Rescue due to the woman being trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters had to cut the roof of the car, so they could remove her.
According to Fire Chief Timmy Brown, the woman was transported by EMS to Moore Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic was not a major concern even though one lane was closed. North Moore Road had to be closed briefly to allow the towing company to turn the vehicle over and load it on the truck. Moore County Sheriff’s Office assisted with lane closure and traffic control.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the exact cause of the accident.
