Rollover crash shuts down Glendon-Carthage Road

A man was seriously injured in an accident Monday afternoon when his truck overturned. The accident happened outside of Carthage on Glendon-Carthage Road about a quarter-mile south of Old Glendon Road.

Emergency units were dispatched around 5:30 p.m. to the accident and arrived to find a Nissan pickup had lost control and overturned, rolling several times before coming to a stop in the middle of the roadway. There was heavy damage to the truck. The accident had also ripped the camper shell off the back of the truck.

Once EMS evaluated the man, a medivac helicopter was called. A landing zone was set up in a field near Brady Road, so he could be flown to a trauma center. His condition is unknown at this time.

Glendon-Carthage Road was shut down for a little over an hour while crews worked the scene and highway patrol could investigate. Traffic was diverted onto Brady Road and Old Glendon Road.

Today’s accident happened less than 100 yards from where an accident a few months ago that left a propane truck on its side.

Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire Department, High Falls Fire Department, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
