Third graders from Sandhills Farmlife School received new dictionaries thanks to Southern Pines and Sandhills Rotary Clubs.

Deputy Rebecca Madden and Sheriff Godfrey got the honor of passing the books out to the students.  While they were there, Madden and Godfrey spoke to the children about being responsible citizens.  Deputy Madden discussed the importance of seatbelt use, gun safety, and being a leader in their community.

The students had an opportunity to ask questions while gaining a better understanding of law enforcement’s role in the community and how they keep citizens safe.

The Rotary Club not only provides students with needed dictionaries, they are involved in community projects such as working in the food pantry at the Sandhills Moore Coalition and picking up litter on community roads.

Every year, the Southern Pines Rotary Club Foundation endowment funds are used to help fund scholarships and support local organizations “doing good” in the community.
