Sandhills_Sentinel

It has now been one year since we began Sandhills Sentinel and so, for us, it’s a time of refection.

It has been an amazing journey, and we are honored that so many of you have taken this journey with us.

Our numbers continue to grow each and every month. We are proud to say that we have had over 121,000 visitors to our website in the past 30 days, and the numbers continue to grow. Many of you have referred your friends and family to us, and we are so very grateful for your support.

To our advertisers, we are humbled by your trust and patronage. We certainly could not do this without the financial support of our advertisers.

We set out on this journey to lend a voice to the community, to tell the stories of you and your neighbors, to inform you of upcoming events and great businesses to check out. Along the way, we have added a few new areas.

We added a Military Page for so many of our neighbors who are in service to our country. Our Today in History Page has a growing following, and we have been fortunate to aid in the adoption of so many animals through our Pets Page. We added a News Around the State Page which is a daily roundup of North Carolina news.

This year we added Twitter and Instagram to our feeds at your suggestions and those have proven to be very successful.

We have listened to your suggestions and made tweaks along the way. We also have plans for some upcoming pages, such as classified ads, at the suggestion of readers. We do listen when you make suggestions and have taken note of all your ideas.

We continue to cover events and will be expanding our on-scene videos. Certainly our “Snow Patrol” videos were huge hits as they had over 40,000 views. We also continue to use Facebook Live videos.

You will see though that on wrecks we never show the cars involved in our live feeds. We want to give those involved a chance to notify their friends and loved ones before we put the information out there.

We hope that you will continue to read the Sentinel, and share it with your friends.  Hopefully, among the stories, you will find something that makes you smile or touches your heart along the way.

Our sincere thanks go out to each and everyone of you that read our paper and to our advertisers for helping us be your source for news in the Sandhills.

As always, we will continue our commitment to the community. Our stories will continue to be about you. Thanks for making our first year great. Our hope is to bring you an even better second year.

Thanks being a reader!

B.J. Goodridge and team.

Thanks to all our wonderful advertisers!
