School district announces Principal of the Year

West Pine Middle School Principal Jeni Wiley was named Principal of the Year for 2022-2023 on Thursday at a banquet held at Pinehurst Country Club, according to a press release from the school district. 

Wiley is a student-centered educator who has worked tirelessly to instill an atmosphere of continuous learning and improvement for both students and staff. If you visit the school campus and classrooms, it is evident that her focus on improving culture and academics resonates with her staff.

In addition, Wiley demonstrates an understanding of the importance of communicating with and involving all stakeholders as she engages parents and the community.

Wiley has a B.A. in Middle Grades Education from Elon University and a M.Ed. in Secondary School Administration/Principalship from UNC-Pembroke.

The school district also named Kristin Schwader as Beginning Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023.

Schwader is a second-grade teacher at McDeed Creek Elementary School, mother, military spouse and learner.
