Seagrove man facing arson charge

Authorities were called to the 3200 block of Cedar Hill Road in the Seagrove area for a structure fire on Thursday around 11:30 a.m.

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said in a news release that Corey Hussey, 21, of Seagrove, was arrested and charged with second-degree arson and resisting a public officer.

“Upon arrival, deputies found smoke coming out of the residence,” said Fields. “After further investigation, deputies were able to place the person responsible for setting the fire in custody.”

The suspect was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond for the two charges.

Additionally, Hussey was served with a post release/parole warrant and is being held without bond.

Hussey has a June 9 court date and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
