'Senior Show and Tell' at SP Public Library - June 27

The Southern Pines Public Library is excited to announce a special event celebrating the lives, memories, and passions of our community’s seniors. Show and Tell for Seniors will take place on Friday, June 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Southern Pines Public Library and is open to seniors who would like to share a cherished item, story, or piece of their personal history.

Participants are encouraged to bring a meaningful item that reflects a part of their life or personality—such as a childhood keepsake, a handmade quilt, a favorite book, or a special photo. Each senior will have a few minutes to share the story behind their item, offering others a chance to connect, reflect, and celebrate the diverse experiences that shape our community.

“This event is a chance for seniors to shine,” said Mary Howard, Community Engagement Librarian. “It’s not just about the objects—it’s about the stories and the memories they hold. We want to honor and uplift the voices of our older adults and create a warm space for sharing and connection.”

Advance registration is required for anyone who would like to speak or share an item. Seniors may register by calling the library, signing up online, or visiting the front desk in person. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Family, friends, and members of the public are invited to attend as audience members to enjoy the stories and celebrate the storytellers. Light refreshments will be served, and staff will be on hand to assist participants and provide a welcoming environment.
