Sheriff's Office seeking ‘armed and dangerous’ man after shooting in Aberdeen

Moore County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a wanted suspect following an overnight shooting in the Aberdeen area.

The shooting occurred on Monday, May 23 at 10 p.m. in the 100 block of Kirk Drive “following a dispute between two individuals,” said Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields in a news advisory.

“The person responsible for the shooting fled the scene prior to deputies arriving,” said Fields.

Stephen Morton Jr., 29, was found on Highway 1 near Kirk Drive with a gunshot wound.

Morton was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

“Sheriff’s Investigators have identified the shooter as 43-year-old Lo-ren Robert Ellis, also known as “Moo-Moo”, of Southern Pines, North Carolina,” said Fields. “Ellis has outstanding warrants for his arrest in connection with the shooting and should be considered armed and dangerous.”
