Single-vehicle accident leaves one seriously injured

A man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle accident outside of Foxfire Friday. The accident occurred on Rose Ridge Road, near Hoffman Road, around 7:30 p.m.

Initially, the man was reported to be unresponsive with a head injury. A helicopter was called but was unable to fly due to weather conditions.

Emergency crews were able to extricate the man from his truck, and he was placed in an ambulance and transported to Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

The driver was coming from the Hoffman Road area when he ran off the right-hand side of the road and traveled several hundred feet across a yard and field before crashing into trees.

A resident of the area stated that children are usually playing outside in the yard but were not due to the rain.

One lane of traffic was closed while emergency crews worked. The Highway Patrol was on the scene and is investigating the cause of the accident.

Responding to the scene were West End Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Foxfire Police Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Department and the Highway Patrol.
