Southern Pines Police Department K9 Officers and their K9 partners participated in a meet and greet this past Saturday at the Southern Pines Downtown Park.

There was a great crowd of locals who turned out on a gorgeous fall day to meet the officers and their special hardworking K9 partners, the Southern Pines Police Department announced.

Kids showed up with pint-sized police shirts and police hats on, and K9 Jacky, Mary, and Ivy were there to greet them.

After a meet and greet session, there was a narcotics and obedience demonstration.  The officers cordoned off a section for the dogs to show off their K9 skills to the public.

During the event, there was also a question and answer segment for the citizens to participate in and to build relationships between the police and public. K9 baseball cards were handed out to children as well.  The two-hour event was free to the public.
