Southern Pines man charged 2nd-degree forcible rape

A Southern Pines man is behind bars facing rape and drug charges, according to a statement by Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields.

Joshua Aaron Robinson, 22, was charged with second-degree forcible rape, assault by strangulation, possession of marijuana greater than ½ ounce, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling place for controlled substances, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

“On September 25th, 2020, Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of Fairway Avenue for process service of an outstanding arrest warrant,” said Fields. “While at the residence, Deputies located marijuana and items of paraphernalia resulting in a search warrant being obtained. Deputies conducted a search of the residence and seized marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia.”

According to information from Moore County Detention Center, the offense date listed for second-degree forcible rape and assault by strangulation was September 15. 

Robinson was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond, is due in court on Wednesday, and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
