The Southern Pines Rugby Club has unfinished business after winning the Carolina Union last year but losing the Southern Conference Championship on the last play of the game to Atlanta Old White.  Southern Pines starts the season with dreams of a national championship berth.

Southern Pines will start the season with a preseason match with Raleigh Rugby Club at home on September 8.  The team will be welcoming back Zach Miller and Cormac Kenan just in time for the match as they leave for 11 day trip playing with USA Rugby South in Europe playing Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic in international competition.

The team returns the majority of their players back from last year’s top 16 finish and welcomes veterans Roderick Bonner and Mike Goering to the team and is anticipating additional help in the spring when John Bortins and Jeffery Hexom come back from injury, and Emerson Bessell and Jone Koronihagana come home from their trips from New Zealand and Fiji.

No ticket needed for home matches, and parking is $5 a car.  The team is still recruiting new athletes and practices Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the National Athletic Village.
