SP officers complete criminal investigation program

The Southern Police Department announced Sergeant William Byloff and Investigator Michael Griffin have recently completed the Criminal Investigation Certificate Program at the North Carolina Justice Academy.

The Criminal Investigation Certificate program is designed to recognize law enforcement personnel who have completed extensive investigative training that will better prepare themselves for various challenges of criminal investigations.

The program focuses on best practices in investigative techniques, as well as practical application of technological advances, legal changes and challenges that detectives will encounter.

To be awarded this certificate, program participants must be sworn members of a law enforcement agency and have completed 400 hours of training in courses specific to criminal investigations, in addition to 200 hours of prerequisite courses to have been accepted into the program.
