The Spring Matinee Races held at the Pinehurst Harness Track has been canceled due to the coronavirus.
The Village of Pinehurst made the announcement on its Facebook page Monday.
“Out of an abundance of caution due to ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pinehurst Driving & Training Club has made the decision to cancel this year’s Spring Matinee Races,” said the Village.
The annual event is presented by the Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department and the Pinehurst Driving and Training Club.
For over 100 years, Pinehurst has been the scene of horse racing.
