SUV crashes into embankment near Whispering Pines

A man escaped injury in a single-vehicle accident near Whispering Pines Wednesday evening. The accident happened in the 400 block of Heritage Farm Road.

Emergency units were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. to a vehicle down an embankment with the driver out and waiting in another vehicle.

When they arrived on the scene, they found a Dodge Durango off the roadway into a wooded area with heavy damage to the front end.

The driver was heading north on Heritage Farm Road when he lost control in a curve, jumped a ditch and went over 100 feet while dodging trees before finally hitting a tree head-on.

Even though the call had plotted in Cypress Pointe’s fire district, it was actually in Whispering Pines fire district, so they were then dispatched.

The driver was walking around and refused treatment by EMS.

Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the accident.

Responding to the scene were Cypress Pointe Fire Department, Whispering Pines Fire Department, Moore County EMS and N.C. Highway Patrol.
