Swift fire response prevents spread at Lobelia home

Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire in the Riverbend Community of the Lobelia area on Thursday morning, according to the Crains Creek Fire Department.

Fire officials said units were dispatched at 11:26 a.m. to a home on Digger Drive, with automatic aid also requested. Upon arrival, crews confirmed that all occupants had safely evacuated the residence and located a fire near the rear door of the home.

No injuries were reported.

The Crains Creek Fire Department said the fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished due to a prompt response. Firefighters used a saw to cut out the burned area to ensure the fire had not extended further into the structure.

New Year’s Day was busy for first responders, with several outdoor fires breaking out across the county, including a 10-15-acre woods fire in Southern Pines.

Responding units included Cypress Pointe, Spout Springs, and Fort Bragg fire units.
