Teen arrested after shooting at moving vehicle in West End

Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields said a 19-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday following an investigation. 

The sheriff’s office received a call on June 22 regarding “a firearm being discharged into a moving motor vehicle on Seven Lakes Drive near NC 211 Highway in West End,” said Fields.

Nicholas Weiss, of Carthage, was arrested on the same day and charged with one count of felony discharging a weapon into a moving vehicle, one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one count of felony larceny of a firearm, one count of felony possession of stolen firearm, one count of misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, and one count of misdemeanor injury to personal property.

Weiss was placed at the Moore County Detention Center under a $125,000 secured bond. He is due in court on July 27 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
