The community is invited to “The Magic of Music & Music Therapy” on Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Seven Lakes Chapel in the Pines located at 581 Seven Lakes Drive in West End.

This is the twelfth educational seminar sponsored by AOS Care Management, AOS & Friends Care, Fox Hollow Senior Living, OutreachNC magazine and Seven Lakes Chapel in the Pines.

Rachel Stewart Shell, MT-BC, a board certified and credentialed music therapist and owner of Birdsong Music Therapy, LLC, believes “throughout life, sound positively and negatively affects our physical and emotional well-being.”

Shell will share what music therapy is and how it can be transformative and effective with older adults. Her insightful experiences and research-based information on the power of music will explore how music therapy can make a difference in your life.

“Research shows that music is the first sensation that registers with a developing fetus and the last that registers with a dying person. Music has the power to take us places, to build bonds, and to speak when words and other means fall short.”

“The Magic of Music & Music Therapy” promises to be informative and entertaining. Shell is a talented musician and singer who always incorporates a few songs into her presentations.

The doors open at 6:00 p.m. to provide participants an opportunity to visit with the event sponsors and the speaker. The seminar begins at 6:30 p.m.

Reservations are encouraged. Call 910.692.0683 or email [email protected] to register.
