Three escape serious injury after crash near Carthage

Two adults and a child escaped serious injury after being involved in a rollover accident outside Carthage on Sunday.

The accident happened just before 1 p.m. on Highway 24-27 between Kelly Plantation Road and Ventura Lane.

According to officials on scene, a Dodge truck traveling west hydroplaned, losing control and overturning onto its side. There was minor damage to the vehicle.

All three occupants were out of the vehicle when emergency units arrived on scene. The adult male passenger was checked out by EMS for minor injuries but did not require transport to the hospital. The adult female driver and the child were uninjured.

Highway 24-27 was down to one lane for about an hour while crews worked the scene, and the vehicle was removed.

N.C. State Highway Patrol was on scene investigating the crash.

Responding to the scene were Carthage Fire Department, Moore County EMS and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
